Lot 3012
Licinius I, 308-324. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.21 g, 12 h), Rome, circa 320. IMP LI-CINIVS AVG Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Licinius I to right. Rev. [S]AECVLI F-[EL]ICI[TAS] / P - R / R T Shield inscribed AVG set on garlanded cippus. RIC 160 var. (unlisted officina). Extremely rare. Some weakness and slightly rough, otherwise, about very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

This extremely rare coin is one of only two examples from officina T. Particularly important is the bust, which is very similar to that of the 'FORTVNA REDVX AVG N' coin also offered here (lot 2947 above). The similarity perhaps indicates that the obverse dies were cut by the same engraver.
